People amuse me
I'm sure that must sound really odd, but they do.
I colored my hair about 2 weeks ago. Nothing too drastic, but it is rather red right now. I've worn my hair in a ponytail for the last week or more, so they haven't really seen it... but wore my hair down today. And almost everyone commented on "Oh Michelle, I love your hair!" or something to that effect.
My question is... how sincere is that really? Would someone honestly come up to me and say "Wow Michelle, your hair looks hideous! What on earth did you do to it?"
Reminds me of Junior Prom. There was this one girl with a very... shall we say interesting dress that I really didn't like. I was talking to one of the girls in my limo about it, and she said "yes... but if she comes up to you, I bet you'll compliment it anyway." And I probably would have. I mean, I wouldn't want to be rude...
Just makes me wonder.

Afco
Well, it seems that there will always be something available for me at Afco. This summer, I'm (at least temporarily) taking over for one of the customer service reps who is leaving today and only gave a few days notice. It's a nice job, pays a bit more than last summer, and it's a lot more challenging than the other jobs I've had here (except for that first summer, when I filled in as A/R while the woman was on vacation). Seems like I'm their general "we need someone ASAP" person, since I know the computer system fairly well and they know I'll pick up whatever job and eventually train the new person, giving them some extra time to hire a good fit for the job.
It's fun, learning all of the different items the company makes, and learning the specifications. I wish I was able to get a lab job this summer, but if that had to fall through, this is a pretty good alternative!
Chris is out in Cali... so, it's time to resume our tradition of webcam dates and im-ing and calling and emailing, and hopefully I'll be able to see him before the summer runs out :).

Getting nervous...
So today Alex and I went to rehearse. Her recital is tomorrow at 1pm, and I'm playing the Mozart Duet in her recital as well, so we were going to rehearse. Well, we get to Spaulding... and her bow won't tighten. So it's basically useless. And her pieces involve a lot of very fine manipulation that will be difficult to re-learn on a new bow that doesn't handle the same. So, we drove to my teacher's house, in the hopes of finding her a bow that she can play all of her complicated insanity with.
I'm so nervous now, that something like that is going to happen to me. Last thing I need is something else which will make me uncomfortable walking into that room.

Random ramblings of a stressed-out mind
This term seems to both be flying by, and barely moving at all. I'm performing my sufficiency recital in a little over a week, which is a very scary thought to be honest - I've never been in front of an audience like that performing solo works. And 2 of the works are unaccompanied. Talk about nerve wracking! But, I have many friends who are coming out to support me on this... and my parents are coming to see me... So hopefully I will be prepared in time!
The program of the recital is pretty awesome, too...
Haydn's Lark Quartet (1st mvmt)
Mozart Duet for Viola and Violin (1st mvmt)
Telemann Concerto in G Major for Viola (all 4 mvmts)
Bach Cello Suites transcribed for Viola (Suite 3 Courante mvmt)
Reger Suites for Solo Viola (1st Suite 1st mvmt)
I've "performed" all of these pieces before, for NYSSMA, with the exception of the Mozart Duet/the Reger Suite... and of course, those are the most technically challenging pieces of the recital.
I'm glad I decided to wait for this recital though, and not due it in C term. There is no way I could have been prepared, and besides I think I would have killed people with the stress I ended up being under last term, between PLA-ing and Chris being in Cali, etc etc.
Lots of performing coming up next week, I'm kinda excited about that... Recital is on Saturday, at 2PM, and then also Friday at 6:30 PM BDT is going to host a showcase event of dancing on campus. I'm doing a waltz dance with Chris. We're heading to Norm's tonight to get some moves, and have it somewhat (if not all the way) choreographed for us. I'm excited... I haven't done real choreography since the last SbS recital senior year. I just hope I don't die with all of the rehearsal I have to do!!!
